Dutee Chand clinches the gold medal

Dutee Chand clinched a gold medal in the World Universiade in 100 m dash event at Napoli in Italy.

With this, she became the first Indian woman track and field athlete to win Gold.

She took 11.32 seconds to finish the race.

Dutee has now become the second Indian sprinter to win a gold in a global event after Hima Das.

Commonwealth Weightlifting championship I

India won 13 medals on the opening day of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Apia, Samoa.

The medals comprised 8 gold, 3 silver, and 2 Bronze.

Former world champion Mirabai Chanu led the Indian medal rush in the senior women's 49 kg event to win the gold medal in the Olympic qualifying event.

Madhya Pradesh to produce its own seeds soon

The Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Seed Federation will produce seeds.

The decision has been taken in a Board of Directors’ meeting held under the chairmanship of the Minister for Cooperatives Govind Singh in Bhopal.

The brand name of seeds will be ‘Sah-Beej’.

A plan has been made to produce seeds from the next Rabi season.

Sri Lanka eliminates measles

Sri Lanka has become the fifth country in the World Health Organisation (WHO) Southeast Asia region to eliminate measles.

The other countries in the region which have achieved this feat are Bhutan, Maldives, DPR Korea, and Timor-Leste.

Measles is a highly infectious illness caused by the rubeola virus.

WHO estimates that 2.6 million people who have not had the vaccine die of measles every year

Russia successfully launched Soyuz-2.1

Russia successfully launched Soyuz-2.1 a carrier rocket with a hydrometeorological satellite and 32 small satellites.

The satellite will provide images of clouds, the surface of the Earth, ice and snow covers in the visible, infrared and microwave ranges.

The ride-share mission lifted off from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in eastern Russia.

Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship II

Jhilli Dalabehra also clinched the first place on the podium with a lift of 154 kg in the senior women's 45 kg event which is not an Olympic weight category.

In the senior women's 55 kg, Soroikhaibam Bindyarani Devi won the gold while silver went to Matsa Santoshi.

In the senior men's 55kg category, Rishikanta Singh grabbed the gold with a total lift of 235 kg.

According to property consultant CBRE, New Delhi’s Connaught Place (CP) is the 9th most expensive office location in the world.

Hong Kong’s Central district retained the top spot as the world’s most expensive market for prime office rents.

Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex and Nariman Point CBD slipped to 27th and 40th position.

2nd India-Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue

The 2nd India-Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue began in New Delhi.

The first Dialogue was held in St. Petersburg on November 2018.

The meeting will focus on six core areas of cooperation, including the development of transport infrastructure and technologies, agriculture and agro-processing sector and small and medium business support.
