Modi, Jinping to meet at SCO Summit
Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit at Bishkek.
He would also meet PM Narendra Modi there.
This would be the first meeting between the two leaders after the BJP's massive victory in the general elections.
The SCO summit is due to be held on 13-14 June in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Ferry service to connect India and Maldives
India and the Maldives have agreed to launch a passenger-cum-cargo ferry service between Kochi and the Maldivian capital Male via Kulhudhuffushi atoll.
The initiative was announced during PM Narendra Modi's 2-day state visit to the Indian Ocean archipelago.
An MoU was signed between the two sides for the establishment of passenger and cargo services by sea.
India to gift cricket stadium to the Maldives
India will build a cricket stadium, which is likely to come up at Hulhumale, an island south of North Male Atoll.
India will also train young Maldivian men and women in cricket.
Ties between India and the Maldives have warmed considerably after the election of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as the president in September 2018.
Govt to procure 2 supercomputers
The government will procure 2 more supercomputers whose combined computing powers would be 8 times the existing capacity.
Plans are afoot to buy these supercomputers, with a combined total computing speed of 80 petaflops, at a cost of approximately Rs. 1,500 Crore.
The new supercomputers will be set up at the two existing institutes of the MoES.
Amazon most trusted among other brands
E-commerce major Amazon is the most trusted among the Internet brands in India, followed by Google and Facebook, according to a recent report by TRA Research.
Among the 32 Internet brands surveyed, Indian messaging app Hike ranked fourth, beating Facebook-owned Whatsapp, which ranked 10th.
The name of the report is Brand Trust Report 2019.
Mekathoti: Dalit woman Home Minister of AP
YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy named a Dalit woman as the home minister of the state.
Mekathoti Sucharita represents Prathipadu (SC) reserved constituency in Guntur District.
She was sworn in as a cabinet minister, along with 24 others at a ceremony held at Velagapudi in Amaravati.
Sirisena gifted Buddha statue to PM Modi
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena presented PM Narendra Modi a Buddha statue in meditation posture.
This replica of the Samadhi Buddha statue has been hand carved using white teak.
This masterpiece has taken almost two years to complete.
This is considered to be one of the best sculptures in the Anuradhapura era.
The original statue was sculptured between the 4-7th centuries AD.
Hamilton won 7th Canadian GP
Lewis Hamilton secured a record-breaking 7th win at the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix after Sebastian Vettel was penalized for dangerous driving.
A five-second race time penalty was given to Vettel.
Ferrari will appeal against the decision over the five-second penalty given to Vettel which cost him the race.
